Firefox - Taking back the web

A little while back someone suggested I try out the new Mozilla browser FireFox. So I downloaded it but didn't see that much difference in the way I use the web personally. That is, until the company I work for installed new content filters from Computer Associates. This filter prevented me from looking up CD-tracks in Microsoft Media Player 9 and accessing some gaming sites I frequented. Then the other day I happened to give FireFox another try, and... I was able to get to the gaming sites again (Media Player still doesn't work). So either this is evidence of how well FireFox works or of how crappy the content filter is. I also noticed that my browsing was a lot faster than with Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.

So here it is! Give it a try and you'll be amazed.

Get Firefox!

  • I didn't know you had this blog!

Someone recommended FireFox to me. It didn't recognize several of the standard keyboard shortcuts I use, so that was a showstopper.

  • I downloaded Firefox for Mac and so far it's pretty neat. Certainly seems faster than Safari, but does seem to hang at certain points, but hard to tell if it's just internet lag. I'm still using it.
